PLAIN CITY — Fremont softball (15-5, 9-1 Region 1) took over first place in Region 1 with a 4-0 win over Layton (13-8, 8-1) on Thursday.

Kynlee Hoggan pitched a complete game, allowed three hits and struck out four. The Silverwolves hit six doubles and Aubrey Morrow hit two of them. Jadie Aiken and Rylie Bennett each had two hits.

Tylor Comeau, Kaitlyn Roberts and Kambell Larsen accounted for the three Layton hits.

ROY 7, FARMINGTON 4

Maysa Averett pitched a complete game and Roy (11-11, 7-5 Region 5) racked up 12 hits — including four doubles — in a win over Farmington (9-12, 6-6).

Jakell Eddy batted 3 for 5 with a double and Olivia Bruch hit 2 for 4. Saige Nielsen doubled and drove in two.

Delaney Baker batted 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a home run for the Phoenix. Abby Wyatt and Kira Koelling each had two hits.

CLEARFIELD 8, NORTHRIDGE 0

Jayci Finch threw a complete-game shutout — allowing four hits, striking out seven and walking none — and added two hits at the plate to lead Clearfield over Northridge.

Brynnley Christiansen, Miranda Mansfield and Rachael Brown all totaled three hits for Clearfield (12-8, 4-6 Region 1). Kaycee Valencia homered.

Lily McGuckin doubled for Northridge (8-14, 2-9).

SYRACUSE 1, DAVIS 0

Abby Reed hit an RBI single to score Megan Poll with two outs in the third inning and Syracuse (6-10, 3-6 Region 1) held on for a vital win.

Devyn Jeffers pitched the first four innings for the Titans, allowing two hits with four strikeouts. Abby Sims pitched the final three and gave up one hit.

Ellie Anderson reached base all three times for Davis (13-4, 7-2). Kya Wilmott pitched a complete game.

BOX ELDER 10, WOODS CROSS 9

Box Elder built a 10-1 lead after the seventh and a Woods Cross final-inning rally ended at eight runs.

Hanna Gould and Sophie Blacker each had three hits for Box Elder (9-15, 7-6 Region 5). Mallory Merrill doubled.

Jade Valdez and Elizabeth Busdicker each drove in two runs for Woods Cross (9-13, 6-7). Valdez also struck out eight in the circle.

The game was Woods Cross’ annual “gold game” in which it raised money for families affected by cancer. WX and BE combined to raise $5,400 this year.

BOUNTIFUL 15, VIEWMONT 0

Corinne Hall pitched four innings, allowed one hit and struck out seven in a mercy-rule win for Bountiful (17-5, 12-1 Region 5).

Annie Salazar hit two doubles with two RBIs while Ashlee McPhearson, Kelsey Gunn and Alyssa Bowles each drove in two.

Savana Walker had Viewmont’s (2-19, 0-13 Region 5) lone hit.

JUAN DIEGO 20 & 19, BEN LOMOND 1 & 9

Ben Lomond (2-15, 0-10 Region 11) lost both games of a doubleheader against Juan Diego by scores of 20-1 and 19-9.

In the first game, Jessica Peregrino and Sarai Morales each had one hit for the Scots.

In the second game, Talynn Gooda drove in two runs while Shaylee Beardall and Mercedes Maes each had RBI singles.

BASEBALL

DAVIS 15, NORTHRIDGE 2

Davis poured on 15 runs across the final three innings of a six-inning game.

Stockton Hall doubled and drove in three runs for Davis (15-9, 12-5 Region 1), and threw five innings for the win. Bryson Hales homered.

For Northridge (3-17, 3-11), Jacob Rhoades tripled and drove in a run. Logan Findlay had two hits.

LAYTON 12, CLEARFIELD 2

Layton scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to put away Clearfield (10-10, 8-6 Region 1). Micah Del Rio got the win on the mound for the Lancers (10-11, 7-7) and struck out eight batters.

SYRACUSE 8, WEBER 5

Dylan Hawkes hit a home run and drove in three as Syracuse (11-9, 8-6 Region 1) kept hold of fourth place in Region 1.

Mark Amparan and Trey Schofield tripled for the Titans. Cameron Sorensen tossed 2 ⅓ scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Cole Potokar got a hit and an RBI for the Warriors (8-13, 3-11) and Josh Howell drew four walks.

BEAR RIVER 8, GREEN CANYON 7

Bear River (17-7, 10-4 Region 12) held on for a region win.

Braxton Jeppsen and Parker Coombs both batted 2 for 4, with Coombs driving in two. Wyatt Roholt drove in two. Kelton Summers batted 2 for 3 with an RBI and struck out six batters in three innings pitched.

The Bears are tied for first place in Region 12 with Mountain Crest with one game remaining.

BOYS SOCCER

DAVIS 1, CLEARFIELD 0

Joshua Harwood scored for Davis (10-1-3, 10-1 Region 1) as the Darts moved to within a win of the Region 1 title. Noah Larkin kept the shutout in goal.

The Falcons (5-9, 4-7) are still within a half-game of fourth place thanks to Fremont’s loss at Layton.
