BRIGHAM CITY — Roy High baseball clinched at least a share of the Region 5 title with a five-inning, 13-2 win Thursday at Box Elder (5-20, 2-13).
Chris Porm batted 4 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs for the Royals (17-8, 10-5). Kyler Hyde-Gibbons homered and drove in three while Jaxson Dart had two hits.
Conner Stevenson doubled for the Bees.
CLEARFIELD 7, SYRACUSE 5
In the first game of a vital doubleheader, Clearfield scored three runs in the third inning to take a 4-3 lead and held on for a win.
Ethan Giacalone and Mitch Smith doubled. Ty Witt got the win for Clearfield (11-12, 9-8 Region 1).
Mark Amparan and Logan Poe doubled for Syracuse (13-10, 10-7).
The second game of the doubleheader was suspended due to darkness in the top of the seventh with the score tied 8-8. It will be resumed Friday at Clearfield.
LAYTON 3, NORTHRIDGE 1
Carson Shaffer pitched a complete game and batted 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead Layton (12-12, 9-8 Region 1) to a win over Northridge.
Bodee Wright batted 4 for 4 for the Knights (4-19, 4-13).
NORTHRIDGE 3, LAYTON 2
Stockton Cleverly pitched a complete game, leading Northridge (5-19, 5-13 Region 1) to a series win over Layton (12-13, 9-9).
Tyson Denning drove in two and Bodee Wright batted 2 for 4 for the Knights.
Micah Del Rio, Kobe Talbot and Landon Brant each had two base hits for the Lancers.
Layton needs Syracuse to beat Clearfield on Friday to get into a fourth-place play-in game against the Falcons.
FREMONT 11, WEBER 0
Fremont moved one win closer to potentially clinching the No. 1 seed after shutting out Weber (8-16, 3-14 Region 1).
Jack Arevalo homered and Brayden Clark hit a double for the Silverwolves (16-8, 12-5), who collected 13 hits. Sage Wayment got the win with six strikeouts.
Nic Erickson batted 2 for 3 for Weber.
A Fremont win Friday against Weber means the Silverwolves will clinch a share of the Region 1 title but would get the top playoff seed after a head-to-head tiebreaker advantage.
VIEWMONT 7, FARMINGTON 1
Blake Buckley pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts and drove in one run as Viewmont (9-14, 9-5 Region 5) kept its region-title hopes alive.
Jaxon Glance batted 3 for 4, Aaron Bredsguard drove in two runs and Noah Montoya batted 2 for 3 for the Vikings.
Brandon Young drove in the lone Phoenix (10-14, 8-6) run.
If the Vikings win Friday, they’ll clinch a share of the Region 5 title with Roy and be the No. 1 seed due to a head-to-head tiebreaker. If Farmington wins Friday, the Phoenix will be the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.
BOUNTIFUL 5, WOODS CROSS 3
Bountiful (12-10, 7-7 Region 5) scored all five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to force a winner-take-all game Friday for the final playoff berth in Region 5.
Anthony Wuthrich batted 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a double for the Braves and Lance Behrends pitched a complete game.
Taylor Ayala and Roman Sanone both batted 2 for 3 for the Wildcats (11-13, 7-7).
JUAB 12, MORGAN 2
Morgan’s season ended in the 3A state tournament one-loss bracket at Salt Lake Community College. Garrett Spens batted 2 for 3. The Trojans finish 12-16.
LAYTON 11, DAVIS 3
Layton put a bow on its first region softball title since 2014 with a resounding win.
Brooklyn Pritchett hit a triple, a double, a single and drove in four runs for the Lancers (16-8, 11-1 Region 1). Tylor Comeau batted 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Halle Duke batted 3 for 3. Jackie Gold struck out five in a complete game.
Sidney Eyre batted 3 for 4 for the Darts (15-6, 8-4) and Lexi Sunderland hit 2 for 4. Maggie Miller homered. Davis will be the No. 3 seed in the playoffs.
FREMONT 6, SYRACUSE 1
Aubrey Morrow batted 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Fremont clinched the No. 2 seed by beating Syracuse (6-13, 3-9 Region 1).
Kynlee Hoggan pitched a complete game with four strikeouts for the Silverwolves (16-7, 10-2).
Rachel Godfrey batted 2 for 3 for the Titans.
ROY 4, BOX ELDER 1
Roy clinched the No. 2 seed for the playoffs as Kenzi Hueck hit a two-run homer, Ana Palmer drove in two and Jakell Eddy batted 2 for 3. Maysa Averett was the winning pitcher for the Royals (13-12, 9-5 Region 5).
Makena Earley batted 3 for 3 with a double and Kallie Bair hit 2 for 3 with a double for the Bees (11-16, 8-7), who await Farmington and Woods Cross to finish their seasons before finding out playoff seeding.
FARMINGTON 11, VIEWMONT 0
Delaney Baker and Kira Koelling combined to throw a five-inning no-hitter in a Farmington (10-13, 7-7 Region 5) win over Viewmont (2-20, 0-14).
Baker batted 3 for 3 along with Hadley Eichmeier, who drove in two. Lauren Gray and Abby Wyatt each had two base hits.
Farmington can clinch a playoff berth by beating Woods Cross on Friday.
BOUNTIFUL 12, WOODS CROSS 2
Libbie Hawker batted 2 for 3 with three RBIs in the leadoff spot as Bountiful (18-7, 13-2 Region 5) beat Woods Cross (9-14, 6-8) by mercy rule.
Sophia Stoddard and Abby Steed both had two hits and drove in two. Stoddard homered.
Alison Eberts drove in two for the Wildcats. WX must beat Farmington on Friday to force a play-in game for the No. 4 playoff seed.

Rachael Brown hit two runs as Clearfield (15-8, 6-6 Region 1) beat Weber (5-10, 1-10) in six innings.
OGDEN 16, BEN LOMOND 6
Kate Lowry hit a home run and drove in three runs, leading Ogden (2-14, 1-9 Region 11) to a big win over Ben Lomond (2-18, 0-11).
Alayna Brown drove in two and reached base all four times for the Tigers.
Sarai Morales and Shaylee Beardall both batted 2 for 2 for the Scots.

Frank Dufitumukiza scored a header in extra time to send Layton Christian (17-0-1) past Millard in the 2A boys soccer state semifinals at Juan Diego High in Draper.
The Eagles will face Rowland Hall at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium for the 2A championship.
Leandro Marques scored LCA’s’ first goal. Chris Park assisted the Dufitumukiza goal.
FREMONT 5, NORTHRIDGE 2
Fremont beat Northridge to set up a play-in game against Clearfield at noon Saturday at Clearfield High for Region 1’s No. 4 seed.
Weston Hales scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the game for the Silverwolves (6-11-1, 5-7 Region 1). Porter Iverson and Talon Smith scored for Fremont and the Silverwolves got the fifth goal on a Northridge own goal.
Carson Smith and Monav Soorma scored for the Knights (4-11-1, 3-8-1).
WEBER 2, SYRACUSE 0
Austin Allen and Josh Maughan scored one goal apiece as Weber (10-5, 8-4 Region 1) finished the season in third place in Region 1.
Colton Obray assisted Maughan’s goal. Warriors goalkeeper Joe Holbrook kept Syracuse (3-12-2, 0-11-1) off the scoresheet.
