A slew of 2019 college football games were assigned kickoff times and TV plans across the country, but none more locally relevant than the BYU-Utah season-opening rivalry battle scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 29, in Provo.

That game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. MDT and air on ESPN.

Utah has won eight straight in the series. The rivals kick off the 2019 season after facing off in Salt Lake City to conclude the 2018 regular season, a game in which BYU led 20-0 at halftime but Utah won 35-27.

Three other BYU games were assigned time and TV plans: Saturday, Sept. 7, at Tennessee, will kick at 5 p.m. MDT and air on ESPN; a Sept. 14 home game vs. USC will air at 1:30 p.m. MDT on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2; and a Nov. 16 home contest vs. Idaho State will kick at 1 p.m. on BYUtv.

ESPN also announced BYU’s remaining home games against Washington, Boise State and Liberty will be picked up by the network with specifics determined by the in-season selection process.

Utah also had three more games assigned. Consecutive home games against Northern Illinois (Sept. 7, 11 a.m.) and Idaho State (Sept. 14, 2:15 p.m.) will air on the Pac-12 Network. The next week, Utah opens Pac-12 play with a Friday, Sept. 20, road game at USC to kick at 7 p.m. and air on FS1.
