For the first time in four tries, the Pioneer League defeated the Northwest League in the inter-league All-Star game, held this year Tuesday in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Pioneer League triumphed 13-10.

Two Ogden Raptors played key roles in a late comeback.

With the Pioneer League trailing 10-9 in the eighth inning, Ogden infielder Jeremy Arocho knocked in a run to tie the game. A few batters later, Ogden outfielder Daniel Robinson singled in a run to for the final 13-10 tally.

Arocho and Robinson both subbed into the game in the sixth inning. Ogden infielder Ronny Brito started at shortstop and played five innings, hitting 1 of 3 at the plate.

Ogden’s final All-Star was pitcher Jose Chacin, who pitched the second inning. He gave up three hits and one earned run. At the time, that put the Pioneer League down 6-2 because its starter, JC Cloney of Idaho Falls, gave up five runs in the first inning.

Grand Junction’s Coco Montes started and played five innings, hitting two home runs and racking up six RBIs. Idaho Falls’ Nathan Eaton started and was kept in with a red-hot bat. He finished 5 for 5 at the plate, scoring four times.

Salem-Keizer’s Diego Rincones led the Northwest League at the plate, going 4 for 5. The Northwest League is a short-season A league with teams in British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

The Raptors have Wednesday off before opening a seven-game Montana road trip Thursday, with four games at Billings and three at Great Falls.
