MH 062718 Raptors Orem Owlz 07-9

Raptors' Daniel Robinson (50) jogs to third base while playing against the Orem Owlz on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Lindquist Field in Ogden. The Raptors went on to defeat the Owlz, 4-1.

Daniel Robinson’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday clinched a dramatic, wild win for Ogden against Idaho Falls to close a five-game home stand.

The Raptors improved their record to 29-14, while the Chukars fell to 22-20 after a game in which Ronny Brito drove in eight runs. Idaho Falls repeatedly hung up multi-run innings that Ogden responded to each time.

The final score?

Ogden 20, Idaho Falls 19.

Robinson’s single closed four-hour, eight-minute affair that started in scintillating fashion. Idaho Falls jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Ogden even batted, then the Raptors scored five in the bottom of the first, capped by Niko Hulsizer’s solo home run, to go up 5-4.

It wasn’t done yet. By the middle of the third inning, the Chukars led by a touchdown, 12-6. Somehow, Ogden took a 13-12 lead in the bottom of the fourth with seven runs, helped by two-run doubles from Matt Cogen and Hulsizer.

The Raptors extended the lead to 16-12 after a three-run homer by Brito, then the Chukars scored five in the sixth to go up 17-16. Ogden went ahead 18-17 in the bottom half on a two-run single from Brito and the teams traded runs in the final four frames.

Cogen and Hulsizer drove in three runs each, while Miguel Vargas went 3 for 5 with two RBIs.

Ogden hits the road for a three-game series with Grand Junction before returning home later this week to host Orem, the last series before the All-Star Break.

Outfielder Jon Littell was assigned to Ogden from the Arizona League Dodgers on Sunday. Littell was batting .327 in 14 games with the AZL Dodgers.
