One day after players excitedly leaked photos on social media of the new threads, the Utah Jazz officially unveiled purple throwback uniforms Thursday to be worn nine times during the 2018-19 season, the 40th season the Jazz will play in the state of Utah.
The uniform hearkens back to the purple, yellow and green road jerseys the Jazz wore from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s.
The Jazz will carry from last season the same four uniforms (white, navy blue, gold, orange gradient) while adding the purple get-up and also an unknown sixth jersey to be worn on Christmas Day against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Jazz also released a nostalgic video to begin the celebration of the 40th season in Salt Lake City (seen at the bottom of this page).
Utah will kick off the 40 Seasons celebration at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Nov. 7 by wearing the classic purple uniforms against Dallas. The organization will highlight iconic moments in franchise history through in-game videos, digital features and special guests throughout the 2018-19 season, the Jazz said in a statement.
The nine games the Jazz will wear the uniforms are:
- Nov. 7 vs. Dallas
- Dec. 6 vs. Houston
- Dec. 10 at Oklahoma City
- Dec. 21 at Portland
- Jan. 9 vs. Orlando
- March 4 vs. New Orleans
- March 13 at Phoenix
- April 1 vs. Charlotte
- April 7 at L.A. Lakers
Replica jerseys will go on sale at the arena in mid-November, reports Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune.
