SALT LAKE CITY — University of Utah quarterback Brandon Cox has left the football team and will transfer to another school, Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham announced after practice Friday.

The junior was battling for Utah’s starting quarterback role after appearing in only one game over the last two seasons.

His transfer leaves Utah with two scholarship quarterbacks: Troy Williams, a junior college transfer and expected starter, and true freshman Tyler Huntley.
