Weber State softball: Endless winter nixes Big Sky-opening series vs. Idaho State
Weber State softball’s last six games have been canceled or postponed by Northern Utah’s endless winter.
The latest: a three-game series scheduled to kick off Big Sky Conference play this weekend against Idaho State in Ogden. That’s been postponed, likely to the first weekend in May that precedes the conference tournament.
Despite efforts to keep the softball field clear, more rain came to Ogden on Wednesday night. That turned to snow Thursday morning and more snow is expected during the day Friday.
WSU had games called off last week against Utah Valley and Utah. The Wildcats are 6-20, facing one of the most difficult nonconference schedules in the country.
Weber State’s next scheduled game is Tuesday, April 4, for a one-game road trip to Utah Valley. WSU is then slated to host Portland State for three games April 7-8.
