With North Dakota’s departure from the Big Sky, the 11-school conference has shifted to a 20-game basketball schedule which it released Tuesday.

Most notably, the use of Mondays returns to the conference schedule to help facilitate the change that allows every team to play a true round-robin slate.

“I’m in favor of that,” Weber State athletic director Jerry Bovee told the Standard-Examiner in 2017 about a 20-game schedule. “It gets us another home, Division-I game and it helps sure up the conference standings when everybody plays everybody.”

The conference previously used a 20-game schedule in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.

The Weber State men are slated for only two Monday games, both on the road, for trips to Idaho and Idaho State.

Weber State’s conference schedule begins Saturday, Dec. 29, with a trip to Eastern Washington, followed by a Monday game (Dec. 31) at Idaho.

The first conference home games come Thursday, Jan. 3, against Northern Arizona and Saturday, Jan. 5, against Southern Utah. Weber State hosts Montana on Feb. 14.

The slate wraps up with home games against Idaho and Eastern Washington on March 7 and 9.

Weber State’s full 2018-19 schedule is not yet released but will include home games against BYU, Fresno State and Utah Valley. The regular season is expected to begin Nov. 6.

The WSU women’s team similarly opens with Eastern Washington and Idaho on the same dates, but at home in the Dee Events Center.

The Wildcat women play three Monday games, with two at home: Monday, Dec. 31, vs. Idaho; Monday, Jan. 21, at Idaho State; and Monday, March 4 vs. Idaho State.

The full schedule for the Wildcats and new head coach Velaida Harris has not yet been announced.
