OGDEN — With the spring recruiting period closed, the Weber State men’s basketball roster continues to take shape ahead of the 2018-19 season.
Two more players are leaving the program, head coach Randy Rahe confirmed Tuesday.
Riley Court, a 6-foot-4 freshman guard, has left the program and was announced as a new player in Dixie State University’s recent signing class.
Anton Vialen, a 7-foot freshman center, is returning home to Finland.
Court originally signed with WSU in the 2014 class and served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile before joining the roster in 2017. The Pleasant Grove native appeared in 12 games at five minutes per contest this past season, shooting 35.7 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from 3.
Vialen redshirted and did not play in any games for the Wildcats.
The two join freshman guard Trevon Ary-Turner, who announced his departure from the program in March. Ary-Turner appeared in 18 games at 10.3 minutes per contest but made only two appearances of one minute each in the final nine games of the season.
The Wildcats also added to their 2018 signing class this weekend. Caleb Nero, a 6-foot-2 combo guard from Oklahoma, announced his commitment to WSU on April 27 and officially signed with the school April 30.
The departures leave WSU with one available scholarship entering next season. Rahe said his coaching staff is likely to target a forward/center type player to fill the final spot.
Junior guard Cody John missed the entire 2017-18 season with a back injury. Rahe said John — a 6-foot-3 guard from Ontario, Canada — has been cleared to play.
John is currently focusing on strength and conditioning, and Rahe expects him to be ready for the season.
