Nathan C. Tanner
Nathan C. Tanner has reached his 80th birthday.
Born June 6, 1932, in Ogden to Nathan Russell Tanner and Dorothy Woods Tanner, he was raised and educated in Ogden with his two sisters and four brothers. He and his wife also enjoyed their 60th wedding anniversary on his birthday.
The couple was married on June 6, 1952, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. Nate and Phil, as they are known by many who love them, have lived their married lives in the Ogden area. For years, he owned and operated Tanner’s For Men, a men’s clothing store. He was also employed as president of Zion’s Bank in Ogden. He served as a regent for the State Board of Regents, was president of the Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce and served as a senator in the Utah State Senate. For many years, he also served as a member of the board of directors for McKay-Dee Hospital.
He and his wife have served in the LDS Church in many leadership positions, including presiding over wards and stakes. Thirty years ago, they presided over a mission of the church in London. They say that service has had a long and impactful influence in their lives.
Their family consists of five children, who have also married and given the couple 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. After 80 years of life and 60 years of love, they say this posterity is their greatest joy and legacy.
