Judith Suzanne Mateer

Judith Suzanne Mateer, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and cousin, returned to her eternal home on August 20, 2021, after a long and hard battle with Polycythemia Vera.

Judy was born in La Jolla, San Diego County, California on June 20, 1952, at Scripp’s Memorial Hospital, the youngest child of Rosemary and Kenneth Lee Hamby.

She grew up in San Diego and completed her education there including two years at Grossmont Junior College. She married Steve Mateer in 1975 in Carson City, Nevada. They later divorced.

After the divorce, Judy moved to Ogden, Utah and began working for the State of Utah. She worked for the state from 1983 until 2003 when she retired.

Judy was an active member of the Clinton 19th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and cherished her association with the good people there.

She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Mateer of Clinton, a sister, Cathy Jordan, also of Clinton, two brothers, Greg Hamby (Mary) of Chula Vista, California, and Tim Hamby (Karla) of Roy.

Funeral services will be held August 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the L.D.S. Clinton 19th Ward. A viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. just prior to the funeral. Interment will take place in the Clinton Cemetery.
