Chandler Gary Thomas

Chandler Gary Thomas returned home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August, 24, 2021. He was 24 years old.

He was born March 23, 1997 in Ogden Utah. He attended Lakeside Elementary, West Point Jr. High, and Syracuse High School where he graduated in 2015. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and graduated from Syracuse High LDS Seminary. He received a scholarship to play golf at Spokane Community College and played two seasons. He was currently enrolled at Salt Lake Community College pursuing a degree in Business.

Chandler grew up playing soccer, hockey, football, basketball, baseball and then fell in love with golf at the age 14. He had been a great baseball catcher but decided he couldn’t afford to get his golf swing messed up by baseball. He was talented on the piano and loved to entertain his cousins and friends. He sang in the Madrigal Choir in Jr. High and had a beautiful voice. He excelled in school and was an integral part of a very successful golf team. He loved playing for and learning from his Coaches, Brett Higgins and Mitch Wilcox.

Chandler loved camping and fishing and had many wonderful memories from Boy Scouts where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Chandler loved to snowboard and practiced in the backyard after building his own hills before he was able to start snowboarding at the resorts.

He was employed at North Davis Cabinet and he previously worked at Paint Sundries Solutions and Schneiter’s Bluff Golf Course. His family is very grateful for the kindness shown to him from all of his employers.

He was a fixture at Schneiter’s bluff Golf Course where he loved to play with the “old” guys every Saturday. He also loved playing with his Dad and uncles on Thursdays at Glen Eagle Golf Course. He will be sorely missed on the courses where he leaves behind countless golf friends and mentors. Chandler had the opportunity to play golf at many wonderful courses. His favorites included Torrey Pines, Bandon Dunes, Troon North in Phoenix, El Cardonal in Cabo San Lucas, and Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima Washington.

Chandler loved to hang out at Mom and Dad’s house on Sundays and watch the golf channel and get a good meal. He was usually watching one golf event on his phone and another on the TV. He worked on his game continuously, always trying to get better. He loved to exercise and research ways to be more fit.

Chandler was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gary V and Lillian Fisher. He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Stephanie Thomas Clinton, his sisters Avonlee Thomas of Clinton, and Sayla Thomas, who is currently serving an LDS mission in the Atlanta Georgia North Mission, grandparents Morgan and Marjorie Thomas of Clinton and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
