Happy 50th Anniversary!: Rod and Tam Southwick

By Reader Submitted - | Mar 25, 2018

Rod and Tam (Castleton) Southwick celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children at The Roof restaurant overlooking where their love was solemnized, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 18, 1968.

The couple were high school sweethearts. They have found a friendship, built a beautiful marriage and raised a family that includes five children: Brandon (Janet), Justin (Kim), Matthew (Amy), Shellyse (Cody) and McKell (Haylee); as well as 15 grandchildren.

Both are graduates from Weber State University, where Rod is a past alumni president and serves on the alumni board. They enjoy supporting their school at football and basketball games.

Rod is the owner of Planned Outdoor Living and has created and implemented beautiful designs in residential and commercial spaces over the past 46 years. He is heavily involved within the community on various boards including Golden Spike Arena and has served in numerous church callings including Stake Young Mens, Stake High Counsel, the Primary, two-time member in the Bishopric, Elders Quorum, and 30 years in the Scouting Program where he is a recipient of the Wood Badge. He loves those he serves and in turn they love him.

Tam has nurtured and loved teaching preschool in various facilities for the past 29 years. Kids everywhere flock to her because of her compassionate, loving personality. She is her children and grandchildren’s number one fan; always there cheering them on in whatever they may be involved in! She has served faithfully and lovingly in various church callings including Stake Relief Society, Young Womens and Primary.

The couple’s pride and joy comes from spending time and supporting their family. They love the beauty of God’s creations, hiking, kayaking, going to musical events and road trips!

Happy Anniversary!
