Melba Holley Wahlen never misses the opportunity to celebrate with family; she orchestrates parties for Christmas, New Year’s and everything else, this time the party was for her. She celebrated her 90th birthday on February 2, 2019, with her five children, 26 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Melba was born and raised on a farm, with her ten siblings, in Slaterville, Utah. She believes in people and no one more than her deceased husband, George E. Wahlen who she married on August 16, 1946. Their 63 years together were spent as a military family where she spread her love from Japan to Hawaii.

They settled in Roy, Utah where she continues to share the pure love of Christ with everyone she meets. She’s known for her hugs, candy closet and genuine words of kindness. Melba respects and honors all Veterans. She continues to visit the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center where she passes out gifts and hugs to the patients.

The things she values most in life are her family and her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
