Celebrating Lifetime Milestones Together!

Dale and Jean Goodwin of South Ogden Celebrate several great milestones in their lives during the months of February, March and April. On February 11, 2019, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. On March 7, 2019, Dale celebrates his 95th birthday and on April 26, 2019, Jean celebrates her 90th birthday.

Dale was born March 7, 1924, the third son of Alvin LeRoy Goodwin and Hazel Lupriel (Hemenway) Goodwin, in Belvedere Gardens, California. Later the family would move to Idaho and then to Utah. Dale attended Utah Agricultural College (now known as Utah State University) until he was drafted into the military in January 1943, and served until January 1946. After the war Dale started work at Hill Air Force Base where eventually he wound up in Traffic Management Special Weapons. This job took him to U.S. air bases around the world. He retired in 1976. Dale’s loves since retirement have been square dancing and gardening. His love for flowers has been a special treat for his entire family.

Jean was born April 26, 1929, third child of Earl J. Wadsworth and Vera J. (Fowers) Wadsworth in Hooper, Utah. Jean spent her childhood growing up in her grandmother’s home on Riverdale Road in Riverdale, Utah. At 17, she moved away from home and became employed at Dee Hospital. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years nurturing a fine young family. As the children grew she took a job with the Weber School District as a cook in their lunch programs. She spent many years serving lunches to hundreds of students in several different schools. After her working years, Jean shared a love of square dancing with her husband. She also developed a talent for creating porcelain and clay figurines, many of which graced the flower beds of their yard and now the yards of their children.

Dale and Jean married on February 11, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized on November 2, 1954, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. They have been blessed with three children. Their children and spouses are Michael and Pam Goodwin of South Ogden, Kim Goodwin of South Ogden, and Lorri and Mark Altice of Layton. They have nine grand children, two of which have passed away. They have 15 great-grand children. They have spent many years together square dancing, gardening, creating and enjoying their family. They still live in the first home they bought together in South Ogden 60 years ago.
