Happy 80th Birthday!: Alan Henry Bateman

By Staff | May 5, 2019

The family of Alan Bateman, formerly of South Ogden, is pleased to announce Alan’s 80th birthday. Although dad expressed that he did not want a reception, as a family we celebrated this milestone birthday at a dinner at Maddox restaurant.

Dad was born on May 5, 1939, in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. While employed at Thiokol, dad attended business college to further his opportunities.

On June 11, 1959, dad married the love of his life, our mom Mary Lou Lundberg. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Dad and mom raised four children; Rick (Kris), Denise (deceased), Sherie (Randy), and Greg “the only begotten” (Teresa).

Although dad had a 40+ year, successful career at Thiokol, retiring at age 60, he has said his greatest accomplishments and success was his family. Dad has always enjoyed family get-togethers and, to this day, makes sure his family has a get together many times a month. Throughout dad and mom’s married life, the Bateman’s and the Rackham’s went on many camping trips. It was always a treat seeing our skinny legged dad float down the South Fork River. Dad always has a joke to tell and some vegetables from his garden to share.

Following retirement, dad took on a new career; church callings. Dad fully immersed himself in his callings as Ward and Stake Clerk, and most recently Bishopric Counselor.

Two months ago, and after living in the same home for nearly 60 years. Dad and mom moved to Riverdale. Already, dad and mom are making new friends, while remaining close to lifelong friends.

In addition to his four children, dad has nine grandchildren: Amber, Amanda (Mitch), Chad (deceased) Nathan (Petra), Ashley, Alexandra (Ty), David (Kirsten), Christian, Carson. They also have four Great- Grandchildren: Kamdyn (deceased), Madisyn, Dawson, and Stella.

Starting at $4.32/week.
