Thelma Ray Chynoweth
Thelma Ray Chynoweth, 94, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2013.She was born in Mancos, Colorado on November 3, 1918 to Lewis Ray and Susan McMullin Ray. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland “Bud” Chynoweth; sons, Jerry, Victor, Mark and Duane; and daughter Lorna.She is survived by son Glen Chynoweth, of Ogden, Utah; daughter Rena, adopted children Johnny, Judy, Harvey and Paul, along with many grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren.
Thelma was loved and admired by all who knew her.She was passionate about helping young people and anyone who came into her life. In her later years, she settled into the role of mothering and mentoring numerous young people, including orphans, and she never sorrowed when she suffered many losses in her own life.She trusted and loved the Lord through thick and thin and looked forward to the day she would finally “graduate” to be in God’s presence.
She wished for her passing to be celebrated, not grieved. To honor her wishes, a private family service will be held to celebrate the impact she had on the lives of her family and those she came in contact with. A brief private graveside service will be held in Houston.
