Tyler Jay Cassity

Apr 5, 2015

August 28, 1976 ~ April 1, 2015

Tyler Jay Cassity, 38 years old of Ogden, Utah, passed away on April 1, 2015 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, surrounded by his family.

With heavy hearts, our family is honored to share the life and passing of Tyler. He had a soul that beamed a light of wonder with every question, thought or feeling. His immense talent and passion for poetry and music is what drove him.

Tyler’s charismatic personality and sense of humor couldn’t help but touch you, affect you, and leave you like a gentle hurricane. He would give you the shirt off his back, even if it was his only one. This illogical love was what made him special; a one-of-a-kind being, whose heavy heart, at times, was too big to carry. His child-like innocence and unabashed disregard of what was considered normal was what made you love him.

Tyler’s passion was his biggest asset, yet at the same time, his biggest fault. He lived a life unlike any other. He prided himself on this, and seemed to know something we didn’t. We thank God for someone as beautiful as this. He loved us, but unfortunately, departed us too soon. Through grief we finally know he is with God, peacefully asking all the questions that this life could never answer. We love him, just as God does, and can’t wait to see him again someday. His memory will live with us all until that day. Thank you for being an unforgettable son, grandson, brother, uncle, and friend. You will be deeply missed.

Tyler is survived by: his father, Mike and mother, Linda; sister, Nichole; and four brothers, Ryan (Debbie), Matthew (Ashley), Jordan, and Chase (Olga); his loving grandparents, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Carson Cassity.

Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at McKay Dee Hospital and Intermountain Medical Center for all their hard work and compassion through this trying time. We thank his dear friends Ron and Toby, who have always loved Tyler as a brother. The family will have a private ceremony in celebration of his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tyler’s name can be made to NAMI Utah (namiut.org).
