Melvin Franklin Fowers
May 11, 1937 ~ October 29, 2015
ROY – Melvin Franklin Fowers, loving patriarch of our family, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the age of 78. He was born May 11, 1937, to Franklin William and Bernice Wright Jones Fowers in Ogden, Utah. He was raised in Hooper and graduated from Weber High School.
He served his country in the National Guard.
Mel married his eternal sweetheart, Jeaniene Thorpe on January 7, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on November 2, 1962.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served tirelessly in many callings including Bishop, Stake High Council, Stake President, and Ogden Temple Worker.
Mel was the owner of Mel Fowers Heating and Air Conditioning, and lovingly served his customers for many, many years.
He was a gentle, kind man who loved his family and those with which he associated. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mel is survived by his wife Jeaniene, children, Blaine J. (Susan) Fowers, Carrie Callaghan, Kirk D. (Lisa) Fowers, Brett J. Fowers (Desiree), Melea F. Rogers, 16 grandchildren and his siblings Norman (Pat) Fowers, Brent (Mary) Fowers, Maureen Martin, David (Karen) Fowers, and Kathleen Fowers (Robert).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 11 a.m., at the Roy West Stake Center, 5080 South 3100 West, Roy, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah, and on Tuesday, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church.
Interment in the Hooper City Cemetery.
