Richard Chapman, father, brother and friend passed away May 31, 2016. He lived with many health issues but never complained. “A trooper till the end”.

Richard was born October 3, 1946 to Earl and Eva Mae Chapman, the second of six children. He was raised and educated in Ogden, attending Ben Lomond High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the Army from 1967 to 1969 and was honorably discharged.

Richard was an iron worker for many years. Later in life he went to work at the Defense Depot Ogden (DDO), as an Inventory Specialist. After the closure of DDO, Richard transferred to Shriver AFB in Colorado. Richard retired in 2011 and continued to live in Colorado Springs until 2013, when he returned to the Ogden area because of health issues.

He married Cheryl Wahlstrom on July 3, 1976 in Elko, NV. They divorced in 1988. They had one son, Dustin, and he also helped raise a son from Cheryl’s previous marriage.

Richard is survived by his son, Dustin Chapman; grandson, Dawson Chapman; stepson, Chris (Marcie) Price and granddaughter, Hayden Price. He is also survived by his sisters: Sandra (Bruce) Gordon, LuAnn (Brent) Price; and brothers: Gaylen (Janet) Chapman, Kay (Evelyn) Chapman.

He is preceded in death by his mother; father; and a brother, Kim Chapman.

Richard enjoyed fishing, was an avid golfer and had many golfing buddies. His many friends and family will miss his great sense of humor.

To honor Richard, there will be a gathering for friends and family on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Aaron’s Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah from 2 to 4 p.m.

Internment at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
