Blanche “Betty” Badger

Blanche “Betty” W. Badger passed away at Beehive Homes of Perry in the early hours of the September 28, 2016, at the age of 91. Mum was born on April 12, 1925, (Easter Sunday) in Penzance, Cornwall, U.K., the eldest of ten children born to, Gertrude Jane Elmy and William Edward (Ted) Nicholas. She was raised and educated in Cornwall, and was proud of her Celtic heritage. She was the best Mum ever and will be terribly missed.

During World War II, Mum met and dated a young G.I. from Virginia City, Nevada, they married on the March 23, 1945. Two children were born to this union, Carole and Bruce. Before her vision failed her, Mum loved to read, do cross word puzzles, knit and crochet. Her nieces and nephews were the recipients of her beautiful hand knitted Fair Isle pattern sweaters and pullovers.

Mum is survived by her daughter, Carole M. Ashby, Bear River City, Utah; granddaughters: Wendy Ashby, Tucson, Arizona; Michelle (Earl) Cherry, Eden, Utah; Heidi (Brian) Collet, Moraga, Califonia; Tami Ashby, Bear River City, Utah; and one grandson, Patrick Badger, Moscow, Idaho; her four great-grandchildren: Parker Collet, Ayla Collet, Evie Collet, Maeve Collet, all of Moraga, California. Also surviving are her brother, EJ; sisters: Jean, Anne and Patricia of the U.K.; she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Badger; son, Bruce C. Badger; parents: William Edward and Gertrude Jane Nicholas; both sets of grandparents, siblings: Doris Nicholas, Jane Nicholas, Jess Thompson, Kathy Nicholas and William Edmund (Bill) Nicholas all of the U.K.; and son-in-law, R. Dale Ashby.

The family wish to thank the staff of Beehive Homes of Perry for treating Mum with kindness, dignity and respect, also a big thank you to Encompass hospice RN’s especially Lori and Teresa for their skilled, compassionate care.

In accordance with Mum’s wishes there will be no public viewing or funeral.

A graveside service will be Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Bear River City Cemetery.
