Frank Scheen Satterwhite

Dec 13, 2017

June 22, 1921 ~ December 7, 2017

Frank was born in Gahagan, Louisiana on June 22, 1921 to John Scheen Satterwhite and Annie Bell.

Frank married Desseria Lee Jefferson, his wife of 70 years, in March of 1947. They had four daughters: Alice Faye Glenn, Linda Bradford, Zetta Satterwhite Browning and Sylvia Kaye Franklin. Frank has nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one expected in February.

He served our country in World War II, in the Navy. He later worked at Hill Air Force Base as an airplane mechanic for many years. He also served in the community of Ogden, Utah as President of the NAACP and was a great friend of many young men he met as their baseball coach.

Frank was an active member of New Zion Baptist Church and served in many capacities. He dealt with church finances, was a layman and sang in the mens choir. It is known that Frank never knew a stranger anywhere he went. His kindness and friendliness will always be remembered.

Grandpa Frank was known by his grandchildren as “Lemon Drop Man”, since he had plenty of them to share. He also encouraged all of his grandchildren to get an education and change the world for the better.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Willie Clark Jr., James Clark, Matthew Chapman; and sister, Viola Clark. Most recently his beloved daughter, Zetta Satterwhite Browning passed. Surviving is his wife, Desseria; and three daughters, grand and great-grandchildren. Also, surviving is his brother, Earl Chapman; sister, Jackie Lindsay with her husband, Jimmy; and niece, Bettie Jo Johnson.

Frank passed quietly at his home December 7, 2017. He lived a long fruitful life and will be remembered as a great and productive guy. We are thankful for him being in our lives for so long. May God bless him.
