DeAnn Chino Boyle
March 4, 1942 ~ February 9, 2017
DeAnn Chino Boyle, Grandma “D”, age 74, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017, after a long struggle with a myriad of illnesses. DeAnn was born on March 4, 1942, to George Leonard Chino, Sr. and Mary Caroline Farish in Ogden, Utah. DeAnn married her high school sweetheart, James A. Boyle, in the Logan LDS Temple on August 29, 1963.
She attended Ogden City schools and graduated from Ogden High School with the class of 1960. She maintained close friendships with many of her high school friends. She went on to attend Utah State University and Weber State University.
She was awarded the “Outstanding Business Student” upon graduating from Weber State. After graduating from college, she became a high school teacher and taught at Weber High and Ogden High.
In her younger years, she worked in her father’s cafe, Chino’s Cafe, on Washington Boulevard. DeAnn and Jim have been the co-owners of Boyle Appliance and Mattress Center for over 30 years. She was always there as a support to Jim in this lifelong endeavor.
DeAnn’s youngest daughter, Jenny, has Down’s Syndrome and was always by her side. DeAnn was instrumental in organizing the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation, shortly after Jenny was born. She was an advocate for disabled people throughout her life.
DeAnn was a faithful, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life. She held many callings over the years including visiting teaching, primary, special needs primary and special needs mutual.
DeAnn was a master at flower gardening. She had some of the most beautiful flowerbeds in the neighborhood. Her home and yard were her sanctuary. All were welcome there.
Family meant everything to DeAnn. She absolutely loved her children and grandchildren and looked forward to their visits with delight. Every grandchild loved Grandma “D” the most. Like her mother, she made patchwork quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She gave them to them at graduation. There is a quilt made and waiting for each grandchild and great-grandchild to have from their grandma.
DeAnn leaves behind her husband, Jim; and six children: Pamela (Bryce) Blanch, Lynda Scadden, Steven (Stacie) Boyle, Randall (Courtney) Boyle, Marci (Patrick) Parker and Jennifer Boyle. Grandchildren: Heidi (Ryan) Spendlove, Drew (Grissel) Blanch, Thomas Blanch, Luke (Hayley Rivers) Blanch; Megan (Derek) Martinez, Jed and Jake Scadden; Spencer, Maddie, and Kaydee Boyle; Noah, Fiona, and Layla Boyle; and grandson on the way; Hunter and Sydney Satterthwaite; great-grandchildren: Trey, Cash and Kale Spendlove; Juliet Blanch, Gabriel Martinez, Ava DellaLucia; and one great-granddaughter on the way. DeAnn also leaves behind one sister, MaryLynne Chino; and one brother, George L. (JoEllen) Chino, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A viewing will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, on Sunday, February 12, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to the funeral services from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the mortuary on Monday, February 13, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.
Entombment will be in the Crystal Gardens Mausoleum at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
