Verna Lucille Brown Bowers

Verna Lucille Brown Bowers went home to her Heavenly Father on July 2, 2017. She was born June 30, 1936, to Victor Leland Brown and Eva Spinden Brown in Ogden, Utah. She attended Ogden High School and received her high school diploma.

On January 12, 1954, she married Keith Bowers, her forever sweetheart, in Long Beach, California. They were sealed for time and eternity April 11, 1998, in the Ogden Temple. They spent 63 years together.

She was the mother of three children: Kathy Gale, Karen Kay and Paul Jerome. She was delighted to be “Grandma” to 12 grandchildren and “Grandma-Great” to 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Her family spanned five generations during her lifetime.

Lucy was always excited to be outdoors gardening, fishing, boating, and water-skiing. She enjoyed cutting out and painting wooden figurines. She was also an avid quilter and a member of a quilting club. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Lucy and Keith were temple ordinance workers for several years at the Ogden LDS Temple. They also served an 18 month home mission at the Ogden LDS Cannery.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; daughters: Kathy (Paul) Vallard and Karen Peters; daughter-in-law, Cindy Bowers; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; her brother, Ernest Brown; sisters, Nina (Gary) Gibson and Pat Spitzer.

She was preceded in death by her son, Paul; grandson, Dalton; son-in-law, Evan; her parents; brothers, Leland and Delmar; sister, Kay; brothers-in-law, Don (Pat) and Lynn(Kay); granddaughter-in-law, April; and loving step-father, Paul Ferrin. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Family will greet friends Sunday, July 9, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary and prior to services on Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.
