Frank W. Jones, Jr.

Apr 12, 2018

August 17, 1922 ~ April 8, 2018

Our dear father, grandpa and brother, passed away and returned to our Father in Heaven early Sunday morning, April 8, 2018, surrounded by his family. At the age of 95, dad had lived a full and rewarding life and his passing was due to age.

Dad was born August 17, 1922, in Logan, Utah, to Frank and Charlotte Jones. Dad married his high school sweetheart, Eileen Naylor Jones in the Logan Temple on November 21, 1941. Early in their marriage, dad joined the Airforce during World War 2. He served during the War in Europe where he was a bombardier-navigator in a B-17 within the 8th Airforce. He flew 23 missions, until his crew was shot down over Hamburg, Germany. Dad was captured and was a POW for four months until he was liberated by General Patton’s Army. Dad was so grateful to have served our country to help protect our precious freedoms.

After the War, dad worked in the grocery business for over 45 years with Safeway food stores. He was a member of the LDS Church where he served faithfully in various callings: bishop, high counselor, stake presidency and 14 years as a worker in the Ogden Temple. He loved spending time with his family, especially at BYU football games and Sunday dinners. Dad loved life and all people!

Dad is preceded in death by his Eternal Sweetheart, Eileen Jones; and sisters, Virginia and Dorothy. He is survived by sisters, Margaret, Barbara; and his son, Dennis Jones (Rickie); son, Scott Jones (Shannon); eight grandchildren: Kristin (Frank), Denice (Craig), Brad (Lisa), McKenzie, Logan, Cole, Brin and Saige; and three great-grandchildren: Connor, Lydia, and Jack.

The viewing and funeral services will be held at the LDS church on the corner of 9th and Harrison (880 Harrison Blvd., Ogden, Utah 84404). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 11 a.m. There will be a viewing on Friday, April 13, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and Saturday, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.

Arrangements entrusted to Myers Mortuary of Ogden.
