EVA MARIA WEBER

FEBRUARY 16, 1946 — DECEMBER 6, 2021

The world has lost a vibrant, dynamic, strong German woman. Eva Maria Weber passed away with her family at her side on Monday, December 6th, 2021 at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield, UT, losing her valiant battle with liver cancer. She was born February 16, 1946 to Gertrud Zeidler in Konstanz/Bds, Germany. She was raised and educated in Germany, serving an apprenticeship in tailoring men’s fashions.

Eva met and married a U.S. Air Force SSgt, Leroy G Weber, on June 14th, 1968 at Hahn Air Base Germany. They celebrated 53 wonderful years together. She bravely left her homeland and emigrated with him to the United States, faithfully following him on his duty assignments around the world. She lived in PA, NM, MS, lN, England and UT. From this union came 2 children, Christine (Russel) Taylor and Michael (Deceased).

Eva was an amiable, outgoing person who could speak to and make friends with anyone. She loved to play golf, playing in the Riverside Monday Ladies League for over 30 years. She also liked to play cards, especially Hand & Foot, which she did with her Thursday lady friends. She spent countless hours planting and tending her beautiful flowers in the garden.

Eva was an excellent cook of all things German, inheriting her culinary talents from her mother.

Relatives and friends would covet an invitation when she made her schnitzel or roulade with all the German side dishes. Her annual special was Christmas Eve dinner which was usually 3 days in the making. The entire family would show up for a spectacular German feast and especially the leftovers to take home.

Eva and Leroy were snowbirds who enjoyed going to Mesa, AZ for 18 warm winters, first in their 5th wheel then buying a park model. She enjoyed golfing all winter, hosting block parties, playing cards and dominoes, and the camaraderie of her many friends at the Good Life RV Resort. She ran the Tuesday morning ladies, golf league, there for 3 years.

Eva loved camping and traveling throughout the U.S. in her RV, especially her 2 weeks every July at Hyrum reservoir. She said that was her most relaxing time. She also enjoyed her time on the water with “Grandma’s Toy” and it was extra special when she could watch one of her grandchildren skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, or kneeboarding behind her. She also liked paddling around the lake in her new kayak.

Eva traveled extensively in the U.S. and the world, going on 19 exciting cruises. Her most enjoyable was her “Bucket List” Australia/New Zealand cruise, where she loved hand feeding the baby kangaroos. Some of her favorite travel destinations included Hawaii, the Caribbean, Mexico, and anywhere near the ocean.

Time spent with family was near and dear to her. Eva loved having dinner with them either at their house or hers. She enjoyed all activities with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling with them to places as far as Disneyland, Disney World and the Bahamas. She got her wish when all of her grandchildren surprised her by coming to town for her 75th birthday last February.

She made a trip to Germany in November to celebrate her brother’s 80th birthday and to have a final visit with all of her relatives and old friends. She enjoyed reminiscing with her brother and sister on almost daily occasions about the old times, the people they knew, and the fun they had.

Eva worked in all aspects of the foodservice industry, enjoying her contact with others. She worked at the Hill AFB Officer’s club, Elks lodges in both Roy and Ogden, and the ATK/Thiokol facility in Ogden Canyon.

Eva was preceded in death by her mother, Gertrud, son Michael and grandson Nicholas. She will be dearly missed by her husband, daughter, brother Hans Zeidler, sister Klaudia

Baumgartner, seven grandchildren, 11 1/2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her “dog” Bowser who was her faithful companion for over 40 years.

Our many thanks go to Dr. Carl Gray and his fantastic crew at Utah Hematology Oncology for their ongoing care of Eva. Also to the dedicated team members at Chancellor Gardens.

The family will meet friends for a memorial at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 11, 2021, with a visitation prior to 2:00 -­ 4:00 PM at Myers Mortuary 5865 S. 1900 W. Roy, UT. A scattering of ashes will take place in her beloved mountains at a future date.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, the medical research organization of your choice, or the local animal shelter.
