Beth Skeen Bitton

1925 — 2021

Beth Skeen Bitton passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021. Beth was born on June 5, 1925, in Plain City, Utah, to James Blaine and Irene Annie Maw Skeen. Beth attended Plain City School through 10th grade and graduated from Weber High School in 1943.

Beth married Raymond Lynn Bitton on November 2, 1949, in the Salt Lake Utah Temple. They lived in Ogden for two years before settling in Plain City where they lived for the rest of their lives.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother always interested in everyone’s well-being, progress, and happiness. She served her family unselfishly throughout her life and was a compassionate and loving caregiver to her mother and husband in their times of illness.

Beth served in numerous stake and ward callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life.

Her working career was with the Internal Revenue Service Center in Ogden from which she retired after many years of service in various capacities.

She served in the McKay-Dee Hospital volunteer auxiliary for over 30 years, including many years on the auxiliary board of directors and a term as president of the auxiliary in 1984.

Her interests included spending time with her friends and as a founding member of a club of Plain City women who met regularly and enjoyed association throughout their lives. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family and seeing many historical sites and visiting family members living far away. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and made many beautiful quilts and afghans.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents James Blaine Skeen and Irene Annie Maw; her siblings Annie Arlene Alvord, Barbara Skeen, Lyman Maw Skeen, Ronald Blaine Skeen, Beverly Jean Pledger, and Garry Darrell Skeen, and a daughter, Janice Bitton; a grandson Mark Webb; and great-granddaughter McKenzie Beth Bitton.

She is survived by children: Connie Webb, Val (Linda) Bitton, Lynn (Robin) Bitton and 9 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and by sisters-in-law Shirley Skeen, Sherille Skeen, Vera Hurlbert, and Marilyn Speas.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Plain City Stake Center, 4576 W. 2125 N., Plain City, Utah 84404. A viewing will be held at the church prior to the services from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Service will be live streamed and available to watch on Beth’s obituary page at www.myers-mortuary.com

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Humanitarian Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
