Irma Cottam

Irma Jean Cottam, 65, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, in Phoenix from breast cancer. She was born December 30, 1955, the youngest child of Lester and Juanita Tremelling, in Soda Springs, Idaho.
She lived most of her life in Utah, working as a career civil servant for the Internal Revenue Service in several computer-related positions. She married Frederick Fisher in 1976 and they had two sons, Derick and Travis. She met her second husband, John Cottam, at the IRS and they married in 2000. Irma loved John very dearly and they’ve enjoyed 32 terrific years together. In the past 10 years, they split their time between homes in Ogden and Phoenix, including recently enjoying her dream home in the Ogden foothills with a great sunset view.
Irma was passionate about her work and play. She enjoyed skiing, backpacking, tennis, golf, ice hockey, yoga, and hiking. She was also very involved in her sons’ activities, including serving as a volunteer board member in Boy Scouts and a hockey association. She was an avid researcher at heart and loved to learn new things. She also loved to chat and laugh with her friends and family, and was never shy of giving advice.
She is survived by her husband, John Cottam; sons, Derick (Nichole) Fisher of Hilliard, Ohio, and Travis (Manette) Fisher of Albuquerque, New Mexico; stepson Travis (Nicole) Cottam of Farmington, Utah; stepdaughter Jacqueline (James) Long of Syracuse, Utah; six grandchildren, Halee, Hayden, Kian, Addison, Braxton, and Jillian; and siblings Patty (Dennis) Morgan, Catherine (George) Ruybal, and David (Janet) Tremelling. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, RosaLee Warnock.
