Richard L. Hagen
October 5, 1944 — November 26, 2021
Richard Leigh Hagen 77, departed from this life on November 26, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana due to Multiple Myeloma. He was born in Jackson’s Hole, Wyoming on October 5, 1944 to Louis Harry Hagen and Lucile May (Kooyman) Hagen. Within weeks the family re-located to North Ogden, Utah. He married Norma Jo Bennett January 29, 1966 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kokomo, Indiana. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple August 3, 1966, Norma passed away on November 8, 2014.
He served a two-year mission to the Great Lakes Mission where he met Norma, his wife-to-be. He later graduated from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah with an accounting degree. He has been employed at Chrysler Corp., Cuneo Press of Indiana, Kier Corporation, Ogden, Utah and spent 24 years as the Budget Supervisor and Manager of Provider Reimbursement at BC/BS of Indiana. He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors are: Son, Dennis R. Herron, Kokomo, a grandson, Joshua T. Herron (Tracy) of Tipton, two great-grandchildren, Riley and Gabrielle Herron, Tipton; a daughter-in-law, Janice Retz (John) of Windfall, two brothers Russell L. Hagen (Karren) of Goleta, Calif., and Jerold L. Hagen (Dolores) of Washington, Utah; two sisters in-law, Dixie Bennett and Marilyn J. Garber both of Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Donald L. Hagen, a sister, Elisabeth Hagen, a son, Ricky L. Herron, great grandson Konner Kakasuleff, six brothers in law, William C. Bennett, George R. Bennett, Jackie E. Bennett, Normal Wisher, Jackie E. Garber, and Raymond Winslow, two sisters in law Rosemary Winslow and Sharon Wisher.
A cherished friend Connie J. Purvis provided wonderful care as well as close family Tom and Stacey Tedlock. A celebration of life was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kokomo on Thursday Dec. 2, 2021. Richard’s ashes will be interred in North Ogden, Utah at the Ben Lomond cemetery next to his sister Elisabeth. A brief graveside service will be held on January 7, 2022 at 12:00 PM. Following the graveside prayer refreshments will be served at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel on 950 E. 2850 N.
