Kealiipunahele “Puna” Fernandez

Our beloved father, grandfather, son and brother, Kealiipunahele Fernandez, age 47, returned to his heavenly home on Friday October 29, 2021. He died of overwhelming sepsis from diabetes complications. Puna was born to Ernest B Fernandez Jr and Patricia Boehme Fernandez on January 17, 1974 in Kahului, Maui, Hawaii. When his father died his family moved to Ogden UT. Puna attended Grandview Elementary, Mt. Ogden Jr High and graduated from Pineview High School in Washington, UT.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Puna had worked as long-haul truck driver and loved it. He was a gentle soft-spoken person he was always kind and eager to help. He was very knowledgeable about sports and could talk about any team.

Puna is survived by his son Kai Sandman of Phoenix, AZ and granddaughter Aubrey Grace Sandman. Puna was so proud of Kai and Aubrey. He is also survived by his Mother Patricia Boehme Rettberg of West Haven and brother Alika (Nikki) Fernandez of Pleasant View, Uncle Keawe Fernandez of Haiku, Maui, Hawaii and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Puna was preceded in death by his father Ernest and older brother Christopher Kalai Fernandez.
