Gary Don Curtis

Gary D. Curtis passed away at home on November 25, 2021 after a short illness.

Gary was born on February 3, 1933, in Hyrum, Utah to Leland D. and Ruth Thomas Curtis, the middle child of five. As a child, the family moved to Ogden.

In 1959 he married Patricia (Pat) Prelle and they settled in Riverdale. They have three sons.

Gary joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 1958 and worked through the ranks of apprentice, journeyman and finally Master Electrician. Throughout his 37 years in the electrical trade he worked for numerous contractors finally retiring from Winward Electric in 1995.

He served in the U.S. Army; was a member of the Washington Terrace Jaycees serving in many capacities including President; worked as a civil servant in Washington D.C. for five years during the Reagan administration; and served on the local Board of the International Footprinter Association for many years.

He was an avid golfer and laid claim to 2 holes-in-one; a seasonal fisherman; a landscaper; a tomato grower extraordinaire; and a struggling artist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Robert and Darwin. He is survived by his spouse Pat, their children and grandchildren Kelly (Olivia) Curtis, FL; Chris (Deborah) Curtis, TX; Carey (Jamie) Curtis, OH; Courtney (Clayton) Plute, OH; Chase (Sarah) Curtis, TX; Madison (Sam) Brunk, GA; Samantha Curtis, TX; Jordan Curtis, OH; William Curtis, TX; his brother Dee Curtis and sister Lana McCracken.

As a Celebration of Life, an open house will be held for family and friends at the Riverdale residence from 12 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
