George Dale Fishel

Oct 15, 2021

George Dale Fishel was born September 3, 1937 in Cheyenne County Kansas to William Fishel and Rowena Elder Fishel. He attended school in Kansas and excelled in sports. Especially, basketball and football where he was captain of both at different times.

He enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged. He then went on to work as a personnel officer for the US Forest Service.

On November 29, 1958 George married the love of his life Patty Lorene Hope Fishel. They had 62+ years of loving and caring for each other. They were blessed with two sons, Greg Dale and Mark Steven.

George was a dedicated Weber State Basketball and football supporter. He hardly ever missed a game since 1972. Over the years he met many wonderful friends and coaches.

George is survived by his dear wife, Patty; son, Greg; wonderful daughter in law, Mary; two grandchildren, Geoff (Caroline) and Melanie Salazar; three great grandchildren, Gaige Fishel, Carson and Cambree Salazar; brothers in law, Cecil (Suzanne) Hope, Mickey (Faye) Hope.

He was preceded in death by son, Mark; his parents; brother, Gordon; and sisters, Minnie May, Theo, Doris, Mary and Jean.

George was adamant about no funeral, only a simple short graveside service. Instead he wanted his cherished family and friends to remember him with warmth, love, and think of all the good times that they shared.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah where military honors will be accorded. Services under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Layton.
