Oct 22, 2021

Chester Walter “Chet” Fortuna, age 73, passed away in his home on Wednesday, 13 October 2021. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Chet was an avid baseball fan, playing in the Babe Ruth Baseball League as a young man. He enjoyed classic cars, woodworking, the outdoors/camping, and cooking. He also had a passion for jets and was a navigation specialist of the Lockheed P-3 Orion, which is an anti-submarine surveillance aircraft. Chet served his country in the armed forces (both Navy and Air Force) for over 30 years and was a decorated military professional, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He was recognized for his sacrifices and achievements with an Honor Flight across the country to visit memorials in Washington, D.C. dedicated to those who served our nation in wartime.

Chet was a father, brother, and grandfather and had a special bond with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He adored his dogs, Hunter and Jax, and was well known for his organization and tidiness, which likely stemmed from his many years of service to our country. He was always ready to help neighbors, family, and friends and will be missed dearly.

Chet was preceded in death by his parents, John Fortuna and Josephine Pitko Fortuna, and his brother, John Edward Fortuna. He is survived by son, Chad Steven Fortuna and his wife Kathy; son, Craig Allan Fortuna and his wife Sherise; 2 granddaughters, Taylor and Kylee; 2 great-granddaughters, Ayvree and Emerson; and 2 great-grandsons, Gannon and Gunner.

The family would like to invite friends to visit and celebrate Chet’s life on 30 October 2021 from 3 PM to 5 PM at 5371 South 4150 West, Roy, Utah. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to the Salt Lake City VA Fisher House, 690 Valdez Dr, Salt Lake City, Utah 84113.

Interment will be held at 2 pm Oct 29th at Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden.
