John Jacques Desobeau

February 20, 1928 — October 18, 2021

John J. Desobeau, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the afternoon hours of October 18, 2021, in West Haven, UT.

John was born to Leon and Anne Desobeau in Sarrebruck, France in 1928. He experienced the hardships and horrors of war-torn Europe and survived the ordeal with his mother and brother Andre. At the end of WWII, the three moved to the United States where both John and his brother decided to become legal citizens of the United States. The Draft pulled John into the US Army in 1950 and he served two years including combat duty in Korea. Upon return to the United States and civilian life, he achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Delaware.

Following College, he travelled and searched for a place to settle. The young French American chose California. While attending a medical Conference, John met Joan Miramon and love blossomed. The two were married in a Catholic ceremony in San Francisco in 1960. Soon, the family grew with the birth of children Michele and Marc. John pursued further education and became a French language teacher at San Lorenzo Valley High School, in Felton California.

John loved his family, the beach, the redwood forest, libraries, French Cuisine, his MG sportscar, automobile shows, speaking French to friends, beautiful Tahiti, his homeland of France, and the United States of America. John often used the accepting phrase, “C’est la Vie”, but never gave up on the “bright side of life”. He was always very thankful and appreciative for help from family and friends.

Later in life John and Joan moved to Utah for Joan to receive assisted care at Peachtree Place in West Haven, UT. John moved into Peachtree Place, six months after his wife Joan passed (2017) to receive the same wonderful care from the Peachtree family. Brio Hospice also aided John with the best care possible and the surviving family is forever grateful for the help from the great people at Peachtree and Brio.

John is survived by his daughter Michele (Cliff), son Marc (Glenna), grandchildren: Josh (Jasmine), Janele (Corin), Marcel (Liz), and Great Grandchildren, Jordan, Ivy, Finley, Jaxon, and Lane. John is preceded in death by his wife Joan, his parents, and brother.
