Stephanie Ann Belnap Jay

Sep 22, 2021

NOV. 4, 1953 — SEPT. 20, 2021

Our hearts are heavy and broken as we announce the passing of our sweet and so-loved Stephanie. She was a champion of selfless endurance through 55 years of chronic pain and limited physical ability.

She died suddenly on the morning of Monday, September 20, 2021 of a cardiac arrest. This was the final event in a courageous life marked by years of the ever painful and degenerative effects of rheumatoid arthritis. Stephanie was 67 years old.

Stephanie was born in Ogden, Utah, the first child of Donald E. and Sharon Anderson Belnap. Her younger years were spent in southern California where the family lived in Bakersfield and Granada Hills. She was always quick to talk of her California years with fond memory. In 1970, the family moved back to Ogden, Utah and Stephanie attended Roy High School. After high school, she attended Weber State College where she met David C. Jay. They were married July 8, 1975 in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were blessed with four children and over their 46 years together they have lived in Salt Lake City, Mesa and Flagstaff Arizona, and finally in Farr West Utah.

As a wife, companion, mother, grandmother, and friend, Stephanie was blessed with a perpetual gift of kindness and welcoming friendship for all whom she met. Despite her physical hardships, she was always giving of herself, usually at the expense of her own strength. She started working as a Mary Kay consultant in 1985, an endeavor that she loved ever since. She was loved by all who knew her and were served by her.

Stephanie’s true love was her faith. She always wanted to serve and be of use in some way. She served two missions: the first at Weber State College as a student and the second in the Farr West Stake with her husband. As a primary president and teacher, she especially loved the little children. She also enjoyed serving as a guide at the Church History Museum in Salt Lake and as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple.

Stephanie is survived by her husband David C. Jay; by her four children Joshua Jay, John Jay, Joseph Jay, and Jenna Jay Farnsworth; eight grandchildren; her siblings Cynthia Belnap, Don Belnap, Jill Southwick, Lisa Brickey, and Adam Belnap. She was preceded in death by her father Donald E. Belnap and her mother Sharon Anderson Belnap.
