Sep 24, 2021

1953 – 2021

WEST HAVEN – On September 22, 2021, JoAn Tanner Green passed away due to lifelong complications from Diabetes and Lupus, along with many other health issues.

JoAn Tanner Green was born to Anita Galbraith and John Woods Tanner on May 12, 1953 in Kaysville, Utah. Shortly after, they moved to Roy, where she was raised and educated, graduating from Roy High School in 1971.

While attending Roy High School, she met her sweetheart and eternal companion, Phil H. Green. After many adventures in their courtship, they were married in the Ogden Temple on February 7, 1975. Those adventures carried on through 46 and a half years of marriage.

She studied Child Development at Weber State University, graduating with her Bachelors Degree and continuing on to the Masters Program, until her health began to deteriorate. JoAn used the skills she developed to enhance the lives of many children and served as a valuable resource to other child care professionals. JoAn had tremendous compassion for young minds, and a special talent for enhancing their learning experiences. She openly served to foster over 40 infants and other children over the years.

She enjoyed many hobbies. Crocheting, gardening, quilting (buying material), and spending time with family were some of her favorites. She especially loved raising her children on the family’s dairy farm.

JoAn served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout the years. Wherever she was asked to serve, she did it with a heart full of love, compassion and humility. One of her greatest services was to make baby quilts for every newborn in her area over the span of ten years. JoAn was always willing to give of her talents and time throughout her life, the perfect example of kindness.

Surviving are her husband, Phil; children, Nate Green, Christi (Craig) Warr, Jenni (Chris) Compton; her siblings; Jon (Peggy) Tanner, Mark (Mia) Tanner, Lisa (Bill, deceased) Sparks, Scott Tanner and Trudi (Mickey) Madison. As well as seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anita Tanner, and daughter, Mandi Averett.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 27 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S.

A viewing will be held at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
