Born in Modesto, CA, June 22, 1942, a son of the late Donald L. and Beatrice P. Martin- Richardson, he had honorably served his country in the United States Army as an air traffic controller and had lived in Weber and Davis Counties for 43 years before relocating to North Carolina.

Besides Barbara, his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his daughter Aileen Louise Moore of Jacksonville, NC; his son Donald Lloyd Wight of Roy, Utah; his grandchildren, Sean C. Wight, Corey M. Boatright, and his wife Chaitali “Simm” Thakkar and Christian D Cross; his great-grandchildren Rayden R. Cross and Aurora J. Cross, and their mother, Makaeli Wright; and his lifelong friend Steve Nelson and family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Dennis Leon Wight Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 60 West Gordon Street, Layton, Utah 84041.

Interment, with military honors, will be in the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia at a later date.
