Julia Vigil Garcia passed away peacefully April 18, 2022. Known for her strength, sense of humor, great faith and unconditional love, she will be immensely missed by her family and many friends.

Julia was born to Juan and Erinella Vigil, May 4, 1930 in Montrose, CO. She spent her earlier years with her family in Montrose, Cimmaron and Del Norte, CO. In 1940, the Vigils moved to Park Valley, UT. Soon after, the family moved to Ogden where she attended Central Junior High and graduated from Ogden High in 1949.

On June 16, 1951, Julia married the love of her life, Albert R. Garcia in Ogden. Albert and Julia were very involved with Saint Mary’s Catholic Church from its beginnings at the Mission to its construction on Pennsylvania Avenue and finally to its current facility in West Haven, UT.

The Garcia’s were much loved in their church and broader community. Julia and Albert would welcome everyone to their table, many becoming extended members of their family. The couple loved to travel post-retirement making their way to Panama, Alaska, Washington DC as well as Holy Sites in Israel and Europe. Julia and Albert famously hosted a Christmas Eve Party which acted as an annual reunion and Julia’s chance to celebrate with her family by sharing a festive toast of tequila.

Albert and Julia had five children: John “Gene” (Mandy), Lawrence “Bud” (Lois), Vincent (Ruth), Cathy (Matt), and Tim (Leslie). Julia adored her 17 Grandchildren and 20 Great-Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband Albert, son John (Gene), parents Juan and Erinella, brothers Perfecto (Pete), Joe, Ben, Freddie Vigil, and sister Santos (Sandy), and one grandson, Randy Lasman. Survived by her siblings Charlie, Juan, Robert, and Manuelita (Mela).

The Family would like to thank The Legacy House of Ogden and Inspiration Home Health & Hospice for their loving care of Julia this past year.
