Anita E. Seifert

Aug 12, 2022

1936 — 2022

Our beloved mother, Anita Eleanor Gealta Seifert, passed away August 6, 2022 peacefully surrounded by her family. Mother was born July 28, 1936 to Raymond Kimball Gealta and Thelma Shurtliff. She was the youngest of their three children and had two older brothers. She was a life-long resident of Ogden and a true blue one at that. She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School in 1954 where she participated in the Pep Club and met her eternal companion Leon Robert Seifert. They were married on April 8, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple and made their home in Ogden where they raised their 8 children: LeAnn (Mark, deceased) Taylor, Alan Seifert, Joyce (John) Thompson, Carol Korous, Susan Seifert, Irene (Jeffery) Sevy, Maren (Ryan) Wilkins, and Diane (Matthew) Waldmiller.

In addition to being a skilled homemaker, Anita worked for Woods Market as a cashier and then later for Macey’s until she ‘retired’ at the age of 72. She enjoyed these many years of what she called ‘service’ because to her that is truly what it was. She loved seeing familiar faces and learning a little about her customers and often was able to greet them by name. She always hoped that she had brightened their day in some small way.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in the Relief Society and Primary organizations including as president but her favorite calling was that of Music Leader in Primary. She served in the Manor Branch with her husband and helped start a Mutual group for the special needs members in the Ogden area.

She also performed countless hours of compassionate service and friendship to all of those whom she could.

Anita was a member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers through her paternal line of Heber C. Kimball and Ellen Saunders and her maternal line of Lewis Warren Shurtliff and Louisa Catherine Smith.

She is survived by her children; 28 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers Robert ‘Bob’ Raymond (Ruby) and John ‘Jack’ Haskill (Gwen); one son-in-law, Mark Taylor; one granddaughter and one grandson.

The family would like to extend thanks to Pine View Rehabilitation Center for their care during mother’s time there and especially during her passing; to the members of the Jackson Ward for lovingly showing care over the years; and to Elisa Swain for her willing service in transporting mother to her routine appointments.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Jackson Ward, 26th and Jackson, with visitation prior from 12:30 to 1:15 pm. A visitation will also be held on Sunday, August 14th at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, from 6 to 8 pm. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd. Anita’s service will be live streamed on her obituary page at www.myers-mortuary.com.
