Mickie Maleane Boam Worthen

Aug 22, 2022

Mickie Maleane Boam Worthen, age 83, peacefully left this life on Thursday, August 18, 2022. She was residing at Barton Creek Senior Living in Bountiful, Utah at the time of her death due to a long-term battle with sarcoidosis. Mickie was born on July 29,1939 in Ogden, Utah to parents Mitchell (Mike) Graham Boam and Anne Permelia Stoddard. She was also raised by her stepfather, James R Knight.

Mickie married her life-long sweetheart, Norval S Worthen. They were blessed with three children, Donald N (Nancy) Worthen, Debra Ann (Kim) Isaacson, Douglas V (Laura) Worthen. The family grew to include 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Mickie was a cosmetologist for almost 40 years, a profession she loved because of the many choice friends she made and served. She eventually owned her own salon, Mickie’s Hair Flair. She was very proud of what she had accomplished in her profession. She had many gifts in life including her art for making pies, crocheting, painting, fishing with her sweetheart, golfing, bowling, and many were recipients of those loving gifts and talents. She loved people and family and always wanted to be with them. Mickie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings with youth and she also served in the Manti Temple as a temple worker while she lived in Ferron, Utah.

After her husband’s death in 2007, she moved “back home” to West Point, Utah, where she was greatly influenced as a child by her dearly loved Grandma Stoddard. She had many cousins whom she loved and cherished as well as nieces and nephews. She felt blessed living next door to her sister, Jewel Lee Kenley and her Aunt Edna for many years.

She is also survived by her sister, Dr. Kelly Knight and Lorraine (Ned) Giles, whom she considered a sister. Mickie adored her caring neighbors and ward family there in West Point.

She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, stepfather, sisters: Carole Jeane Boam and Sharon Boam Nichols, brothers: James Robert Knight, Leonard Joseph Knight, and Frank Morris Knight.

Mickie and her family so appreciate the love and support from Jewel Lee Kenley and her family, the staff of Barton Creek, and her caregivers from Siimbi Home Care.

Graveside services will be held at the Ferron City Cemetery on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Condolences may be shared with the family at https://memorials.fausettmortuary.com.
