Mary Lorraine Williams

Dec 9, 2022

1934 – 2022

On Monday, December 5, 2022, our loving mother, Mary Lorraine Williams passed away in her home at the age of 88 with family by her side.

Lorraine was born on May 20, 1934 in Grantsville, Utah to Marcus J. and Mary Louise Goldwater. She spent her childhood in the Samaria/Malad, Idaho area and graduated from Malad High School.

In 1951, she married Eugene Williams in Tremonton, Utah. They were later solemnized in the Logan Temple on July 8, 1964. Together, they raised six children and saw the arrival of 18 grandchildren. They were married 47 years and had many adventures together until Gene’s passing in 1998.

In 2011, Lorraine married Duane Patterson and they enjoyed many traveling adventures until his death in 2018.

Lorraine was an active member of the LDS Church, holding many positions throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed a long career at DDO and HAFB. After retiring, Gene and Lorraine spent time traveling, RVing, and fishing with friends and family. Lorraine’s passion was her family, and she was actively involved in all their lives. She was fearless about driving a 34 ft. class A motor home where the seat and pedals had to be modified to accommodate her short stature. She was known as “Go-Go Grandma” to many, as she was always on the go. Other grandchildren called her “Foofie” due to her coiffure that never changed. She loved her special nicknames. Lorraine made friends wherever she went. She is well-known for her infectious smile, warm hugs, and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Lorraine is preceded in death by many loved ones, including her husbands, brother Donald Goldwater, grandson Elijah Williams, and great-grandson Jacob Palo. She is survived by her children; Dorene (Wayne) Kern, Tom Williams, Mark (Celia) Williams, Gary (Patty) Williams, Annette (Tom) West, Stacey (Morna) Williams, 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, her sister Carol Nelson, sister-in-law Juanita Williams, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Thank you to Shyla, RN from First Choice Home and Hospice for your compassionate care, and a very special thank you to grand-daughter Tiffany Williams for helping Lorraine achieve her greatest desire to spend her final months, days, and hours in her own home.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 pm and Monday, prior to the service, from 10 to 10:45 am at the mortuary. Interment, Malad Cemetery.

Lorraine’s service will be live streamed the day of her service and can be watched on her obituary page at www.myers-mortuary.com.
