Lavon C. Montgomery

1930 –­ 2022

Lavon Compton Montgomery, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022.

She was born on February 24, 1930, in North Ogden, Utah to George A. Compton and Margaret Mattson Compton.

Lavon married James H. Montgomery on May 25, 1950, in Ogden, Utah.

She was reared and educated in Ogden, Utah and was the Chief Deputy Weber County Treasurer from 1969 to 1972 and first female Chief Deputy State Treasurer from 1973 until 1977.

Lavon’s family meant everything to her. Surviving is her husband, one daughter and two sons: Mrs. Leigh (Vince) MacManus of Oceanside, California; Steven J. (Kathy-deceased) Montgomery of Salt Lake City, Utah; Russell H. (Becky) Montgomery of Plain City, Utah; Seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A graveside interment for family and close friends will be held at the Ogden City Cemetery, 20th and Madison, on February 4, 2022, at 11:30 a.m.

A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
