Queen Esther Rhone

Jan 13, 2022

November 23, 1961 — January 7, 2022

Queen Esther Rhone passed away on the 7th of January 2022 at the age of 60.

She was the youngest child of 17 children born to Ebbie and Lola Scott Rhone in Zwolle, Louisiana on November 23, 1961, and raised in Many, Louisiana.

Queen’s favorite pastime was spending time with family and close friends laughing, dancing, eating good food and having a good time; you could recognize her laugh from a mile away and her smile could light up a room. She was always there as a listening ear and to cheer you up whenever you felt down. She made sure she was always there to support us in everything we did and never missed the chance to watch her grandsons play the many sports they were a part of.

Queen always went out of her way to make sure her kids enjoyed life and always looked at things optimistically. Whenever the family got together it was nothing but laughs. She always reminded us that life was short and to get the things we deserved and do everything we wanted now. She is at the center of all of our best and funniest memories and will be remembered with a smile.

She was a dedicated partner to Louis Stevenson; mother to her children, Rickey Rhone, Shannica Dowdy, Shannon Weston and Shanice Okhomina; grandmother to Rickey Woods, Zequarrius “Cadillac” Rhone, Jayvion Smart, Janay Gill, Jasmine Dowdy, Glenn “JR” Dowdy, Remy Weston, Kennedy Okhomina, and Noah Okhomina; and great-grandmother to Rhyan Woods and Dakota Woods.

She had many close friends in the community and church that will miss her dearly.

Her parents, Lola and Ebbie and many siblings preceded Queen in death to greet her on her way to glory.

Queen is survived by her spouse, Louis Stevenson, all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sisters Gloria B. Smith, Nylon Jean Butterfield, her brothers Michael “Bubba” Rhone, Esther Lee Thomas, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered as the best mom, auntie, grandma and friend. She was so strong and fought hard until the end. We will miss her love, her comfort, her laugh and smile but will always have the memories in our hearts.

A Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 16th, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 17th, 2022 at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.

Interment at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.
