William McKade Boyer

July 21, 1981 — January 13, 2022

On January 13, 2022 the brightest, most beautiful smile left this earth and returned to his Heavenly Father. William McKade Boyer passed away doing what he loved- framing a home under a brilliant blue sky surrounded by the Wasatch Mountains.

Born to Kurt and Julie on July 21, 1981, Kade was the perfect middle child with siblings Jacie, Kyle, Cole and Quinn. He loved them dearly. Kade was very blessed to have been raised by a village, with good friends and families all around. His childhood was spent riding big wheels, bikes and rollerblades. He fished at Bybee’s Pond, played baseball, basketball, and football. In 6th grade, Kade was the shortest but the best Hamlet ever! He was no stranger to havoc. If you were hit by a snowball in the South Ogden area circa 1990 to 1999 it was Kade, his buddies and sometimes his dad.

As Kade got older, his passion became baseball. He worked so hard! We were lucky enough to watch Kyle, Kade, and Cole bat 1, 2, 3 with Quinn as the bat boy in American Legion Baseball. Watching Kade play at Bonneville High School was so exciting for our family. His junior and senior years he was named first-team All-Region and All-Area, and was team MVP offense his senior year. In 1999, he was recruited by Coach Mike Littlewood to play ball at Dixie State. His teammates quickly became his family and in 2004, Dixie State won the JC National Championship. Our family will never forget that week. Kade never missed an opportunity to show off his ring or remind his brothers that this was Dixie State’s first and only National Baseball Championship.

Kade loved the outdoors. He spent hours skiing and boarding at Snowbasin. He enjoyed time in Lake Powell. He hunted and fly fished with his dad, brothers and many friends. “The Green” is a treasured memory.

Kade served a mission in the Dominican Republic. He loved those people! In fact, Kade loved most people! His ability to befriend those around him was an amazing talent. He was always lagging behind because he was talking to the ticket guy, cashier, or some lady walking down the hall. He also listened and was more interested in hearing your story than telling his. Kade was kind, smart, always remembered everyone’s name and could quote any movie or lyric. His circle was huge. You know he’ll be watching your lives from above. Look up and listen.

In 2009, Kade went to St. George to start Crossfit Dixie, a business that thrives today because of his dedication to his clients. Later, he returned to baseball, coaching boys who are now playing college ball. Kade met and married Lindsey Hodgen. They later divorced, yet he loved the happy memories that he made with Lindsey, her daughter Mady, and their chihuahuas, Sancho and Reggie in St. George.

In recent years, Kade worked as a framer. He loved his work and took pride in his craft. He demanded more of himself than anyone else would have asked, except maybe his dad. Projects along the Wasatch Front will look better and last longer because Kade was on the job.

His greatest role was “Uncle Kade” to Nash, Livi, Dax, Brecke, Jack, Hadlee, Hank and Teddy. Grow up and make him proud. Jack “let that big dog eat!”

Following his accident, Kade was hospitalized. On January 13th at 6:00 p.m. his life support was removed. The doctors gave him a 20-minute window to be able to donate a healthy heart and other major organs. So on January 13th at 6:13.6 p.m. Kade completed his last WOD, a new PR, in 13.6 minutes with 6.4 minutes to spare. We all knew he could do it and we cheered loudly when he did. What a humbling privilege for our family to know Kade lives on in so many people. This experience changed a horrible tragedy into a wonderful gift for the lives of many. We could not be more proud.

Thank you St. Mark’s Hospital for your loving care of Kade. He would have been amazed by the skills of the surgeons, nurses and donor team. Thanks for letting all of his friends and family hang out in ICU for 4 days so we could say goodbye. Thank you to our dear friends and family. We can survive this tragedy because of you!

Kade is survived by his parents, Kurt and Julie Boyer; siblings, Jacie (Blake) Bailey, Kyle (Tiff) Boyer, Cole Boyer and Quinn (Kayla) Boyer, his beloved nieces and nephews, Grandma Alice Evans and lots of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

We know his Gramps Jack, Grandma Janet and Grandpa Evans along with friends Matt, Ben, Tilly, Kyle and Nick were so thrilled to see Kade again.

We will have a celebration of life on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Copper Nickel, 2450 Grant Ave, Ogden UT, 84401. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Ogden Weber Stake Center, 5855 Skyline Dr., Ogden, UT 84403. A private family viewing will be held before the services at 12:30 p.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
