Katherine “Kathy” Richards

1980 – 2022

January 8, 2022, our sweet and special Kathy left this earthly journey. On December 10, 1980 Katherine was welcomed into our family.

Kathy was quick in learning to walk and talk. At 18 months she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After completing radiation treatment, her mother saw a public service announcement by an old country cowboy Slim Pickens for brain tumor research. She was accepted into the program in California and received surgery. Radiation and surgery left her with some challenges, however, she always tried her best.

She never let her disability stop her from participating in family activities, participating in special education programs and graduating from the life program. She was blessed to have many beloved co-workers from RC Willey, St. Benedict’s Hospital and Enable Utah. Those who met Kathy were blessed by her special spirt.

Kathy loved to go hiking with her family, trips to St. George, being fearless at Lagoon and spending quality time with those she loved. Her mother was her rock and held her hand until her last breathe.

Kathy’s life had value. We will forever be blessed by the love she shared, and the lessons we witnessed.

She leaves behind her beloved parents, Stephen and Christine Browning Richards; sisters, Jean (Kevin) Jones, Melissa (Larry) Pellegrino; brothers, Samuel (Emily) Richards, Dr. Michael (Candice) Richards; many nieces and nephews.

Sadly, because of Covid, we will not be able to greet our friends. We thank everyone who has helped Kathy throughout the years. We especially thank the CNS Hospice Angels, and our own family angel, Dr. Seth Wallace, they have helped us beyond measure. Interment will be at Kaysville City Cemetery.
