Alan George Evans

July 22, 1925 — January 18, 2022

Alan George Evans, age 96, passed away of causes incident to age, Thursday, January 18, 2022. He was born July 22, 1925, to Evan G and Eva Thompson Evans in Union, Salt Lake County, Utah.

Alan attended Jordan High School until 1943 when he was drafted into the U. S. Navy for WWII. He returned, on leave, to graduate with his class in 1944. Immediately after he was assigned to the USS Cumberland Sound and served the duration of WWII in the South Pacific, Japan and Long Beach, CA.

Alan married his high school sweetheart, Vaudis Day, on February 7, 1946. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had two children: Connie Evans (Ronald) Ray and Rodney Alan (Joan, deceased) Evans.

Alan worked for Utah Wholesale Grocery for 35 years as a cashier, buyer and manager in Salt Lake City and Ogden. He lived in Ogden for the last 58 years and was a member of the Burch Creek 4th Ward.

Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Vaudis; parents; brother, Deloy (Dorothy B) Evans; sister, Lucille Evans (Thomas V) Smith and a daughter-in-law. He is survived by his two children and son-in-law; six grandchildren, Clark Ray, Camie R. (Steve) Sugden, Aimee R. (Jayme) Allred, Sunny Evans, Ed Evans, Jeff Evans and ten great-grandchildren.

We sincerely want to thank Inspiration Hospice, especially Taylor and Debbie and personal caregivers Suzanne and Angie who allowed him to remain at home for as long as possible.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
