Donna Rue Keyes Mortensen

Donna Rue Keyes Mortensen, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, 90, passed away peacefully in her home in Syracuse, Utah on July 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Donna Rue was born on July 1, 1932, in Ogden, Utah to Bertley Kenneth Keyes and Phoebe Mathias Keyes.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings including MIA & RS President. She cherished her relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ to the very end of her mortal journey.

In August 1952, she married George Douglas Williams who passed away on November 13, 1969.

While ballroom dancing, she scouted out Devoy (Dewey) Lynn Mortensen whom she married on November 1, 1973, in the Ogden, Utah temple.

She was employed at times throughout her lifetime, including at the IRS, co-business owner with Dewey, and LDS social services, from where she retired.

She loved to dance, crochet, read mystery novels, paint oils and ceramics, make jewelry, do crafts, and above all, give gifts, plan parties, and help create memories for her large, combined family and their children.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters LeAnn and Kay; sons Garth and Richard Mortensen; grandsons Keaton Williams and John Davis; and sons in-law Brent P. Ellis and Rick Short.

She is survived by her husband, Dewey, 93, and her children: Rod Mortensen, Linda Short, Kristie Williams, Robin Ellis, Kim (Ying) Williams, Cathy (Harold) Rosemann, Kelly (Andrea) Williams, and Shelley Williams; 30 grandchildren and 65 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Donna Rue was a woman of great inner strength, convictions, testimony, and wit, which she shared in her final days.

She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed and remembered with great fondness.
