Sally Whitehead

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Sally Kristen Schooff Whitehead, 76, returned home to her Father in Heaven on June 25, 2022.

She was born on April 5, 1946, in Ogden to Maurice John and Dorothy Wintle Schooff.

Sally graduated from Ogden High School in 1964. She received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Weber State College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Utah.

She married her eternal companion, Phillip Boyd Whitehead, and was sealed in the Ogden Temple. Their marriage was blessed with two sons.

Sally began her nursing career at the Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital when it was located on 24th and Harrison Blvd. She worked as a nurse and head nurse in the Coronary Care Unit. She developed and taught EKG courses and traveled to many states to train other medical professionals. She worked in the Cath Lab and most recently was a senior data abstractor. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society for nurses. She was honored as one of the longest serving employees at McKay-Dee Hospital, working for over 53 years. According to a staff nurse, “She was a wonderful friend, a great nurse, and an outstanding advocate for patients and nurses.”

Sally worked with the founder of the Ogden Rescue Mission/Seager Memorial Clinic and was a long-serving volunteer, donating many hours of service.

Sally loved handiwork, cross-stitching, crafts, books, flowers, Chinese New Years, family traditions, writing, giving gifts, and all things Dutch. She loved her grandchildren with all her heart and was blessed to help raise them for the past 13 years. She helped strengthen the relationship between the grandchildren and each of their mothers.

She enjoyed serving the Young Women in her ward.

Sally is survived by her husband, Phillip, two sons Michael Benjamin and Jeffrey Scott Whitehead; two adored grandchildren Brianna and Devin; her siblings Maury Schooff, Roxy (Bob) Ogden; sister-in-law Irene Whitehead, and many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law Joan Schooff and brothers-in-law Craig, Robert and Jim Whitehead.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 13th Ward, 950 E. 2850 N. with a viewing prior to the services at the church from 9:40-10:40 a.m. Additional viewing will be Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden, Utah. She will be interred at Ben Lomond Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the McKay-Dee Hospital Foundation and specify the Cardiac Care Unit.
