Farr West, Utah-Mark Fredricks Pluim beloved Husband, Father, and Opa was called home from his earthly life on March 5, 2022. Mark was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Catharina and Willem Pluim. He was raised in South Weber with his 2 sisters and 5 brothers. He attended and graduated from Clearfield High School.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Dakota, Rapid City. He was a proud Eagle Scout. He spent many years with the Boy Scouts of America. Through his many years and countless service hours, he earned the highest honor for a leader in Boys Scouts, the Silver Beaver. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. It is given to those who do not seek it.

He met his sweetheart, Beverly Lynn Cockerham, at a church activity, a fireside with Elder Mark E. Peterson. They were married on October 24, 1985. The marriage was solemnized later in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Farr West where they raised their children, two daughters and two sons. Amanda (Teagan Moore) Pluim, Katharina (Robert) Hancock, Jacob (Andi Summers) Pluim, and David Pluim. He has 5 grandchildren, with another one on the way.

Mark’s first job was with his father working with Pluim and Son’s Construction, which he would later help manage with his brothers for many years. Later, he worked for Laylaw busing, CK Construction, and Transwood trucking. His most recent job was with the Ogden Auto Body, he loved his co-workers and always came to work early with a smile on his face and a joke or two to tell everyone. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, to help accomplish tasks that others thought were impossible.

Mark loved scuba diving. He had earned the level of a Master Scuba Diver. A Master Scuba Diver is the highest level of recreational diving. To become a PADI Master Scuba Diver you must: Hold an Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver certification and complete five PADI Specialty Diver Courses. He used these skills to volunteer his time with the Search and Rescue team for many years.

He loved working on his Jeep, shooting his guns, playing with his grandchildren, and taking care of his chickens. He also loved his church calling, teaching his primary kids. He will be missed by all that knew him.

A viewing will be held at the LDS chapel located at 1800 W 1800 N Farr West, UT 84404 from 6:00pm -­ 8:00pm on Friday, March 11th. Funeral services will be held, at the same location, on Saturday, March 12th, at 11:00am with a viewing prior from 9:30 to 10:30am.
